GILGIT: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has said that liberation of Held Kashmir from foreign occupation is imminent, and if India fails to realise the ground situation, it will meet far worse disaster than the Soviet Union.
Speaking at the Azm-e-Azadi conference, Senator Siraj said that India could not suppress the freedom movement in the disputed state through the use of force and bullets. In Pakistan, feudalism, capitalism and politics of vested interests were major impediments to the freedom of Kashmir, he said.
The JI chief said that the entire Pakistani nation was supporting Kashmiris in their freedom struggle. “I want to give a message to Srinagar-based Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Geelani and valiant people of the disputed state that the entire Pakistani nation stands by them. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi should accept his defeat in Held Kashmir and grant them the right to self determination,” he said. The lawmaker demanded that Shontar bypass should immediately be constructed between Astore and Neelum Valley to link Gilgit-Baltistan with Azad Kashmir. He stressed that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan should be given their due share in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He also demanded that Diamir and Bonji dams should be constructed at the earliest. “I am the custodian of political and constitutional rights of the people of Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. They should consider me as their representative in the Senate,” he said.
